Abstract:

Ni-MH battery has been widely used, because its advantages of high security, over-charge, over-discharge in the field of energy storage systems and electric vehicles. In order to ensure that the energy storage battery can be safe and efficient operation, and to extend the battery life, battery management system (BMS) must be needed. According to the characteristics of the battery in the energy storage system, this paper developed the energy storage battery management system based on Freescale S12X series microprocessor MC9S12XEG128 and power management chip LTC6803, this system can achieve 12-channel voltage and 8-channel temperature data acquisition and processing. This paper presents the overall architecture of the energy storage management system, emphasizing on the hardware design circuit and the software processing method of voltage and temperature sampling. Experiments were carried out by LTC6803 and AD7280A two dedicated chips and commonly used distributed sampling scheme for battery module voltage measurement data comparison. Experiments verify the LTC6803 power management chip in the energy storage management system advantages.
