Abstract: To meet the demand of solar thermal power generation system working at high efficiency, this paper studies the charge and discharge performance of a new mixed molten salt (NaNO3:KNO3:LiNO3=2:3:5). The Fluent simulation results indicate that the final melted zone is located at the corner of the bottom of the tank. In order to prevent melted dead spots in this area during engineering applications, a melting device should be added. The simulation results were verified by charge and discharge experiments. The experimental results show that the molten salt in the tank gradually melts from top to bottom during the heating process, and the molten salt always has temperature stratification. But the process of cooling solidification has no stratification.
