Effect of the formation temperature on lithium-ion battery performance

Abstract: The influence of formation temperature on the performance of lithium-ion batteries is investigated using LiCoO2 as cathode and graphite as anode. Analyses are performed on the effect of temperature on the formation time, voltage, voltage dropping, and rate of charge. The results show that the formation time is longer with a higher temperature and different formation temperatures give a different extent of influence of temperature on cycle and rate behaviour.
